How to Treat BedwettingBedwetting in its own settle down with the growing up in most of the cases. But there are occasions which are to be treated. A child above six years when wets the bed is to be clinically examined to rule out any bodily disorder. There are many bedwetting solutions present. Medical treatments, bedwetting alarms, positive reinforcement system, responsibility training, elimination diet, bladder retention control, hypnosis, biofeedback, acupuncture, schedules awakenings, caffeine restriction etc are the methods towards bedwetting remedy. Let’s examine one by one. Bedwetting Medical TreatmentsDrugs or other substances which substitute hormones are being used as enuresis treatments. The pharmacologic treatment for the primary nocturnal enuresis is normally done for children above seven years of age. Because, before the age, it is common to wet the bed and the child may outgrow the trouble. As bedwetting solutions, the drugs which are used are to be thoroughly discussed with the doctor as to the need and other side effects. Usual medication to stop bedwetting does not always help as the bedwetting reappears with the stoppage of medicine. Two types of treatments are in vogue. To increase bladder capacity by means of drugs are the first method and to curtail the production of urine is the other one. Desmopressin, a synthetic substitute for the vasopressin hormone is a good medical bedwetting treatment. Vasopressin hormone is produced in pituitary gland located in the base of brain. This hormone is an antidiuretic hormone which controls the production of urine. The lack of vasopressin hormone is called as diabetes insipidus, a situation in which urine is produced very excessively and subsequently frequent voiding is required. As the enuresis treatments, Desmopressin is normally given as nasal spray and must be used on both the nostrils once before sleeping. Tablets containing desmopressin is also running in the market. Anticholinergic drugs are another way of bedwetting treatments with medication. This drugs, such as hyoscyamine, oxybtynin etc are muscle relaxants. On administering these medicines, the muscles of the bladder are relaxed and hence the stress applied on contraction is lessened. Due to the low contraction, the sphincter muscles are able to hold back the voiding.
Another way in medical bedwetting solutions is a drug named imipramine. Imipramine is an antidepressant and is used to help the people who have disturbed sleeping, emotional problems etc. The desmoprassin is having a high percentage of success rates but as soon as you stop the drug, the problem reappears and therefore, it is not a permanent solution. All these drugs have side effects and some of them should not be continuously used for more than three months. These drugs have very high success ratio in relation to other methods. Even though, before using any of these medicines to cure bedwetting, a thorough physical check is to be carried out for ruling out any possibilities of damages which can be caused by the use of these medicines. Moisture Detecting AlarmsBedwetting alarms are another way to stop bedwetting. Alarms are small sized moisture detecting alarms either placed in the bed or attached to the urethra. When anybody starts bedwetting, the alarm went off and the bedwetter awakens and then void voluntarily. A real problem of the bedwetter is the lack of ability to respond to the signal from bladder. Thus the brain does not give any indication for waking up and voluntary emptying of bladder. To overcome this fault, the moisture detecting alarms are placed and on the first drops of bedwetting, alarm wake up the individual. There are many deep sleepers who even after firing a canon, will peacefully sleep without any disturbance. For these people, the bedwetting alarms are a toy to wake up the full house except them. These alarms are sometimes use sound or otherwise vibration to wake the subject. The vibration helps to inform the hearing impaired. Using bedwetting alarms to stop bedwetting will establish a concern in the brain and persistent usage will automatically train the brain to respond to the signal from the bladder. Bedwetting treatments are often filled with positive reinforcement system. The bedwetting remedy by motivation is achievable in a very extent. A continuous message to the child with advices to the parents is given by experts. The child is being motivated to get rid of the shame, low self-esteem and guilty feeling. As many have described, some parents think that the bedwetting is a punishment for bad thought and laziness. This is not correct. By exact motivation training and advices, it is possible to stop bedwetting. Blaming the child for bedwetting will worsen the problem and the kid, ashamed, will give up the try to stay dry. A low self-esteem is another wicked fruit of the same tree. Responsibility TrainingEnuresis treatments include responsibility training. The children are asked to help in cleaning the bed in the morning and thus make them feel what had happened in the night. This along with many other methods gives a high rate of success. Elimination Diet TherapySome people believe that food allergies are another cause of bedwetting and some researchers have claimed it to some extend. Elimination diet is given on many occasion to avoid the allergies and such bedwetting remedy is also has the elimination diet. Bladder Retention ControlBladder size is also directly related to the habit of bedwetting. The small sized bladder with a high production of urine during the night creates the need of voiding and thus inconsistent emptying happens. The bladder size with few exercises can be increased. The patient is told to consume large quantity of fluid and thereafter delay the voiding for extended period. The gradual delaying will increase the bladder volume. HypnotherapyTo cure bedwetting, hypnotherapy is also used. The brain is having an unconscious always-awaken mind which needs to be trained about all the needs. Normally the bladder signals the brain for need of the emptying. But an asleep brain ignores the message and involuntary voiding happens. By hypnotherapy, the brain is reassured about the signal and to respond to the situation. AcupunctureIn many areas, acupuncture is also used as enuresis treatments. Acupuncture is the treatment by inserting needles or resembling objects at some junctions of nerves, as called as nerve spots to stimulate some pulses thereby strengthening the signal and bladder sphincter muscles. As a bedwetting remedy, waking up the children at regular intervals for emptying the bladder is also used. Either parents, or by an alarm, the children are called for going to toilets. This will reduce the bladder volume and thus bedwetting disappears. |
