Waterproof Pads for Protecting Bedwetter's Bed

Bedwetting, a common problem amongst children, is not an immediate curable disorder. It is normal to wet the bed by toddlers and is very resistant to potty training. The situation of spoiling the bed can be controlled by bedwetting pads. These pads absorb the wetness and help in an undisturbed sleep of the kids. There are many type of enuresis pads available in the market.

Dispoable Adult Underpads

The disposable adult under pad is a version of adult diaper with less cost. The pad is divided into two layers with first layer of soft non woven surface and the second layer made up of gulf pulp, cotton tissues etc. The pads are more hygienic and biodegradable. These under pads are equipped with elastics at the waist to prevent leakage.

Mattress Pads

Another bedwetting pads is the mattress pad. It is better to use mattress protectors instead of cleaning and changing the mattress itself. The pad is also made up of two layers. The inner layer is the absorbent pad can hold more than 4 cup while the outer layer is waterproof barrier keeping the surface dry. These bedwetting pads are machine washable.

Regular Overlays & Tuck-in Overlays

Further there are two types, the regular overlays and tuck-in overlays. The tuck in overlays are extended by an 18 inch on both the sides to tuck in to the bed. These enuresis pads are benefited as this will not be dragged out of the bed and the tuck-in flaps keep the pad intact. These pads being washable are less costly and are reusable.

Pads with Alarm System

Enuresis pads with alarm system inbuilt are also marketed. The pad alarm works when the sensor detects wetness and pressure over it. It means the alarm to work; the child has to be above the pad. There is volume control also with the bedwetting pads of this type. The alarm unit can be placed in the bed or in the frame of the coat.

There are many other types of bedwetting pads. These pads are made up of polycotton material as claimed by manufacturers prevent rashes and discomfort. The second or middle layer of the pads are high absorbents of wetness and prevent the wetness to reach the mattress. These types of bedwetting pads can hold up to six cups of liquid and the bottom waterproof layer prevents the liquid from contacting the mattress.

Enuresis pads with multiple sheet sensors are available in the market. The top is a perforated metal sheet and a bottom foil with larger insulating sheet in between. When the urine reaches the bottom layer, the system of alarm circuit get close and the alarm went off. These types of pads are sometimes gives false alarms due to the shifting of the sheets or penetration of the metal parts. The disadvantages of such pads are that they are not so handy and are very messy to deal with. Further, such bedwetting pads need to be rearranged frequently.
